A young woman was shot and killed by stray gunfire while in a bar on Tuesday night, 6/28, when a disgruntled patron opened fire from the outside of the establishment after being escorted out by a bouncer. It happened around 11:30 p.m. at Philly Bar & Restaurant on the 2400 block of Welsh Road in the Bustleton section. It started when three men entered the bar looking to play pool, but couldn't because a billiards league was occupying the tables at the time. One of the men became angry and started a fight with a bouncer. They were thrown out of the bar. The man walked to his truck about 200 ft away, retrieved a gun, and fired about 15 shots at the front of the building. The men then fled. Police are looking at surveillance footage to help identify the shooter.

21-year-old Jailene Holton was shot in the head by one of those bullets and died. She had been out at the bar with friends. Her family said she usually works a lot at Target and just stays home, but she decided to go out last night. They went to the new Top Golf nearby on the Boulevard and then stopped in this bar for a short time. She was the designated driver. There is a GoFundMe https://gf.me/v/c/v7zm/je8us-funeral-expenses for her funeral expenses. There was also a 30-year-old man in the bar that was injured by glass that was treated.

Police in Springfield Township in Delaware County are investigating after a driver was shot and killed in an apparent road rage incident. It happened just before 8:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of State Road (Rt. 1) near Meetinghouse Road. 54-year-old King Hua of Springfield was driving in a white Toyota with his wife as a passenger. A dark colored SUV driven by a female passed them on the shoulder and came to a stop. The male passenger of the SUV got out of the vehicle and fired shots through the windshield of the Toyota. Hua was struck. He was taken to the hospital where he died. The SUV fled the scene.

A homeless man stabbed a teen in Center City on Tuesday night, 6/28. It happened around 8 p.m. at 15th and JFK. A group of teenagers were throwing things at the man. The man told police that he stabbed the 15-year-old in self-defense. The boy is in stable condition. No charges have been filed at this time.

Sports
James Harden declined his $47.3 million option to return to the Philadelphia 76ers and will become a free agent. The Sixers and Harden will look to sign a new deal in free agency. This move will give the Sixers more salary-cap room to go out and sign other free agents. PJ Tucker has been a rumored potential acquisition.
