A man wanted for attacking and raping a woman in a Center City office building on Tuesday afternoon, 7/5, was taken into custody in South Jersey on Thursday night, 7/7. 49-year-old Willie L. Harris was arrested in Washington Township, New Jersey. The assault happened on the 200 block of N. 13th Street at Race Street. Harris entered the building and went to an unlocked 8th floor law office. He asked the lone woman inside about a man who didn't work there. He then started to rummage around the office. Harris became frustrated and beat and choked the 22-year-old victim. He then sexually assaulted and raped her until a second employee returned to the office and interrupted the assault. Harris then fled. He'll be charged with rape and other charges after he is extradited.

Police have arrested a man wanted for opening fire into a Northeast Philadelphia bar and killing a young woman last month. 47-year-old Anthony Nelson was taken into custody at Harrah's casino in Atlantic City on Wednesday, 7/5, by U.S. Marshalls. The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on June 28 at Philly Bar and Restaurant on Welsh Road in the Pennypack neighborhood. Three men, including Nelson, were causing a disturbance inside the bar over not being able to use the pool tables. They were thrown out of the establishment. Nelson allegedly walked over to his truck around 200 feet away and retrieved a gun. He randomly fired 15 shots at the front of the building. 21-year-old Jailene Holton was inside the bar with friends and was struck and killed by one of the shots. He faces murder charges when he is extradited back to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has signed off on a new curfew law for minors that will run until the end of the summer. The bill was proposed by Councilwoman Katherine Gilmore Richardson. The goal is to keep young people safe. The curfew is now 10 p.m. for anyone 13-17. It is 9:30 p.m. for children under 13. The new law lasts through September 29. The previous curfew allowed older teens to stay out until 12 a.m. In fact, Gilmore Richardson sponsored the bill last year to expand the curfew. There are exceptions, such as traveling to work or being out with a guardian. When police officers find minors who are violating curfew, they will try to contact parents first, and then take them to one of two community evening resource centers or to the police station to reunite the kids with their parents. The two community evening resource centers are: Community of Compassion CDC at 6150 Cedar Ave. and the Diversified Community Services-Dixon House at 1920 S. 20th St. They operate between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m.
