Circa Survive Plays Record Release Shows for "Violent Waves" at Union Transfer 8/24 and 8/25 Setlist

Last night, Doylestown's Circa Survive started their CD release tour at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. The Christimas Lights and Bear Hands opened the show. Their 4th studio album, Violent Waves, will officially be released on August 28th but physical and digital copies were available for purchase at their show.

Last week Stephen Colbert, host of the popular satirical news show The Colbert Report; announced his second annual music festival.

Last year Stephen's Stephest Colbchella '011 Rock You Like a Thirsticane was a week of musical guests that he hosted on his show which included Jack White, Bon Iver, Florence and the Machine, and Talib Kweli. This is the first time he is taking his festival outside the studio.

On Wednesday, July 11th I had the opportunity to interview Jan Epstein and Tom Kaney of the Angel Blue Band. They were playing at the Rose Tree Inn in Media.

Their performance was impressive and unique as their music was influenced by a wide variety of genres including blues, rock, and country. They even covered Bonnie Rait. Jan had a powerful voice that complemented the music.

Firefly Festival in Dover Delaware

This past weekend I attended the first ever Firefly Music Festival in Dover Delaware. The festival included headliners Jack White, The Killers, and The Black Keys all of whom gave excellent performances. Jack White engaged the audience by performing some of hits from his older bands but focused on his new album Blunderbuss as well. He ended his set with Seven Nation Army. All weekend people were singing that song as they left the venue.

Frank Ocean will Perform at Union Transfer July 25th, Target Refuses to Carry Channel Orange

This upcoming Wednesday, July 25th, Frank Ocean will be performing at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. The R&B artist released the digital version of his new album Channel Orange on July 10th and released the physical copy on July 17th.

There has been some controversy surrounding the album since Ocean recently admitted to loving a man and expresses this is some of his songs. Bloggers have made hateful comments in response and Target has decided not to stock the album.... Read More

Rapper DMX Hospitalized after Four Wheeler Accident, Album "Undisputed" Scheduled for Release Aug 28

Rapper DMX was in the hospital with a concussion today. He was injured when he fell off of his four-wheeler and crashed down a hill. He apparently flipped and sustained a concussion. He appears to be fine but we do not yet know when he will be released.

The Killers to Release New Album, Single Runaways Leaked; They'll perform at the Firefly Festival

After a two year hiatus, The Killers are finally back! They are releasing a new album called Battle Born and they've recorded 15 new songs. The album will be released September 18, 2012.

Songs confirmed to appear on the album include "Heart Of A Girl", "Flesh And Bone", and "Carry Me Home." The songs that are on the rest of the album will be confirmed sometime next week.

Coldplay Performs w/ Robyn and Wolfgang at Wells Fargo Center July 5 and 6 Mylo Xyloto Tour setlist

Coldplay performed at the Wells Fargo center on Thursday July 5th on their Mylo Xyloto tour and will play another show at the same venue on July 6th.

Indie Folk band Bon Iver will be performing at The Mann Center on September 16th.

The band has been gaining worldwide recognition for their music over the past few years. They won the 2012 Grammy award for best new artist and best alternative music album for their second self-titled record. Since then they have participated as headliners for music festivals including this year's Bonnaroo festival.
