The annual Susan G. Komen 3 day walk for cancer got underway today. Participants in pink shirts and hats enjoyed opening ceremonies at the parking lot of Bloomingdale’s at the Willow Grove Park Mall and then set off on foot on their 60 mile journey. Walkers will cover 20 miles a day and were required to raise at least $2,300 to take part in the fundraiser.

Longwood Gardens Bathrooms, Arlen Specter Center, Crozer Chester Nurses Strike Planned

Longwood Gardens in Chester County is known for its flowers and trees, but the Garden's restrooms are in a contest for the title "Best Bathroom in America." Accompanied by a glass roof that lets the sun in, a winding 20-foot high wall covered in more than 40,000 plants guides the way to the Longwood Gardens bathroom pods. It is September 11th. The day in modern history, we vividly remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on the morning of September 11, 2001. On the 13th anniversary of the airplane terror attacks, the National September 11 Museum in New York is open and includes gut-wrenching artifacts and graphic photos of the attacks. This morning, a solemn reading of the names of the victims and rescue workers killed there marked the annual memorial.

A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago, while league executives have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week. Actor Charlie Sheen took to Twitter today to pledge $1,000 to the waiter at PYT in Northern Liberties who was apparently stiffed on a tip on Monday by Eagle's RB LeSean McCoy. The burger joint in the Piazza is known for its unusual burger creations. Tommy Up, the restaurant's owner, posted a picture of the receipt that shows waiter Rob Knelly receiving a 20 cent tip on a more than $60 tab. Pennsylvania colleges and universities grabbed top spots in the U.S. News and World Report 2015 Best Colleges rankings. The University of Pennsylvania fell a spot from last year, earning the No. 8 spot. Other Pennsylvania schools making the Top 50: Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh at 25; Lehigh University in Bethlehem at 40 and Penn State ranked 48. Abortion rights groups rallied in Love Park Tuesday afternoon to demand federal funding for abortions. Jess Aarons of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals says it takes bravery to take on the issue of abortion funding at this time, when abortion opponents have succeeded at curbing access to abortion across the country, but she says the issues are related.
