Radio Personality April Kauffman Found Dead

47 year old April Kauffman was found dead in her home in Linwood, New Jersey on Thursday morning. She had been shot multiple times. A friend had come to take care of her pets and found her body in the master bedroom.

April was a wife, mother, and grandmother. She owned a hair salon, a catering business, and until recently hosted a weekly radio talk show on WOND-AM 1400 and also appeared on WIBG. Her show focused on Veteran’s issues.

April was known for her passion for service. She was particularly interested in aiding veterans and soldiers, helping to organize a drive to provide a homeless Iraq War veteran with shelter and supplies. She played a significant role in a petition to allow regional veterans to use the facilities at Shore Memorial Hospital rather than taking a two hour ride to the nearest VA hospital. Governor Chris Christie presented her with the Governor's Award for Outstanding Community Service earlier this month.

An autopsy was completed on Friday, but results are not being released to the public. Police have assured the community that it was an isolated incident.

Her site can be found at http://AprilKauffman.net/.

April Kauffman's Funeral was held this morning at Beth El Synagogue in Margate. The sanctuary was packed with people honoring her memory. Her husband, Dr. James Kauffman, spoke of his wife's caring accomplishments and his pride and love in a prepared statement, "I love and miss you so much. I don't know what to do without you. I hope to be with you soon. Love, Jim."

Investigations are still ongoing and no arrests have been made.
