You may not have heard of them yet, but Maps and Atlases is quickly gaining popularity. This indie rock band from Chicago is coming to Philadelphia this week and I would suggest checking them out!

The band has a history with Philadelphia. Front man Dave Davison was originally from the city. Davison also created a solo outlet called Cast Spells and collaborated on an EP with Philadelphia's Good Old War.

Maps and Atlases have toured with some of my favorite bands including Good Old War, Ra Ra Riot, Minus the Bear, and Portugal. The Man.

They just released their first full length album Beware and Be Grateful and their music has really evolved since their first EP. Their music has been described as mathematical and combines soft melodies with a unique and artistic style. They use a wide variety of instruments and have elements of pop in some of their songs.

The band will be playing on Tuesday, May 22nd at Union Transfer. The show starts at 8:30 PM. They will be playing with Sister Crayon and With The Big Sleep. Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased here http://www.ticketfly.com/
