Frank Ocean will Perform at Union Transfer July 25th, Target Refuses to Carry Channel Orange

This upcoming Wednesday, July 25th, Frank Ocean will be performing at Union Transfer in Philadelphia. The R&B artist released the digital version of his new album Channel Orange on July 10th and released the physical copy on July 17th.

There has been some controversy surrounding the album since Ocean recently admitted to loving a man and expresses this is some of his songs. Bloggers have made hateful comments in response and Target has decided not to stock the album. They claim that it has nothing to do with his sexuality and instead is due to the early release of the digital version.

Despite the negativity, Ocean is receiving support from other artists, critics, and bloggers for bravely coming out in a Hip Hop/R&B industry that rarely reveals openly gay artists. Many feel that this will help other young LBTQ individuals struggling with their identity.

Although only 24, Ocean is already revered for his lyrical skills and artistry. His new album has been well received by critics and fans alike and reached number 2 on the US Billboard 200 with sales during the first week. Each song serves as a different television program. It includes guest appearances by Tyler, Earl Sweatshirt, Andre 3000, The Creator, and John Mayor.

Unfortunately the show on Wednesday is already sold out, but be sure to pick up his album online or in stores that are not Target.
