Breakwater reunites at World Cafe Live 7/21

Breakwater, a soulful funk band from Philadelphia, emerged onto the music scene in 1978. They played locally and cranked out covers and original cuts at block parties, bars, and other venues. Once they were signed to Artista Records, their singles crept onto the music charts and made an impact on radio rotations. As ready as they seemed to take on the fame and fortune, they broke up in the mid 80s and slowly drifted apart.

Out of the blue Breakwater has reunited recently and is set to play World Cafe Live on Saturday, July 21. They have kept their old style, similar to Earth, Wind, and Fire, but brought a few new twists. According to Breakwater members, they realized their mistake in breaking up when fellow founding member Kae Williams Jr died in 2008. This tragedy brought them all back together to tie in their creative spirits once more. Although they are all in their 50s and 60s now, they are finishing up a new CD and the label is pending.
