Make Music Philly is here Friday, June 21st from 8am - 8pm! The concept is "All Day. All Over. All Free." The city-wide, free, do-it-yourself music festival will feature professional and amateur musicians performing at traditional venues, non-traditional spaces, and in both organized and informal events all throughout the city on Friday. Everyone is encouraged to participate and come out to an event. The music spans all genres including Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Indie-Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop and more. Over 130 performances will take place at 50 different venues around the city.

Make Music Philly will be joining a global celebration of music held each year on the summer solstice as part of World Music Day. The concept began in 1982 with Fetes de la Musique in France. It first came to the United States in 2006 as National Music Day. Now more than 500 cities in 110 countries are involved. The day of music runs from 8 am to 8 pm and all events are free.

"Philadelphia is blessed with a tremendous musical legacy," said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. "Make Music Philly will celebrate and build upon that legacy by inviting citizens to organize and attend free performances throughout the city all day long."

The Kick-off event will be at 8am at 30th Station and then heads out around the city from there. iradiophilly will be at The Piazza at Schmidts on 2nd Street and Hancock St. in Northern Liberties with the Philadelphia Mobile Food Truck Association. The music will go from 12:30a – 8pm with performances by Wod Reiwdo, Tophboogie, VIKESH KAPOOR, DEF-Bananas, Liz de Lise, James Hearne, Vice Royal, and Levee Drivers.
