Music News - Dr. Dre Donating 'Compton' Royalties; Grace Potter's New Album; Hunter Hayes Covers JT

Dr. Dre has announced that he will be donating all of his artist royalties from his new album Compton to charity. The money will got towards funding a performing arts facility in Compton. Dre reached out to Compton Mayor Aja Brown who already had plans for the entertainment complex. Dre said. "I've been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn't quite figure out what it was. She actually had this idea and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, 'Boom, this is what we should do.'" The album features 16 tracks with appearances by Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, the Game and Xzibit, among others. The album, subtitled "A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre," is meant to be a companion to the upcoming N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton coming out next week. The album is available Today, Friday August 7th.

Country star Hunter Hayes recently did a session for the Hear and Now series on YouTube channel CountryNow. It was recorded in Nashville's Blackbird Studios. In the video he explains that he and his band planned to do "a very acoustic version of a not-so-acoustic song."
