The Firefly Music Festival has returned to the Woodlands at Dover Downs for its 5th straight year with 90,000 people expected to attend. The 2016 edition will feature the usual amenities and attractions. Over 100 acts are scheduled to play on 7 different stages from Thursday night to Sunday spaning indie rock, alternative, hip hop, and electronic. This year's headliners include King of Leon on Friday (who are back after being rained out in 2015), Florence & The Machine and Deadmau5 on Saturday, and Mumford & Sons on Sunday. Other notable standouts include Ellie Goulding, Tame Impala, Death Cab for Cutie, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Fetty Wap, Ludacris, Blink-182, Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Grouplove.

Philadelphia area bands will also represented. New Sound Brass Band plays on Thursday night. They'll also lead a New Orlean's style second line parade from the campgrounds to the concert area each morning. Those start between 10:30-11:00 a.m. in The Hub (Thursday/Sunday North Campgrounds, Friday/Saturday South Campgrounds). Other locals include Teen Men and Son Little.

Besides the music there are plenty of other things to do. Stop by The Beercade and play classic arcade and boardwalk games. Take a load off and enjoy a beverage at The Brewery. Don headphones and dance in the silent disco at The Thicket. The Market has ten different shops featuring crafts. Several Hammock Hangouts are setup in the trees. And of course, there are plenty of food and beverage options throughout the grounds.

This year, the weather at Firefly is expected to be smooth sailing. Campers who got started on Thursday may see some rain overnight and into Friday morning, but afterwards the forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures around 80 degrees. Red Frog Events, which produces the festival each year, has made many improvements to draining systems around the Woodlands. Last year, Kings of Leon's set was abruptly cancelled and the grounds evacuated after a strong thunderstorm rolled through. The deluge of rain combined with the 1000's of concert goers leaving made some areas impossible to walk through. They've replaced some mulched pathways with gravel and added large catch basins.

Stay tuned to iradiophilly for updates and photos throughout the weekend! You can even Live Stream select sets each day.
