Teen Girl in Custody in Rhawnhurst Murder; Woman Answers Door, Shot Dead; Doylestown Standoff Over

A 14-year-old girl is in police custody in connection to the murder of a 60-year-old man in Philadelphia's Rhawnhurst neighborhood early Monday morning, 10/4. No charges have been filed yet. Al Chernoff was discovered dead in his bedroom around 3 a.m. on the 8000 block of Algon Avenue. He was tied to the bed and had a large wound to his head with slashes on his chest. Police say that he was attacked with a 2x4 board that had nails in it. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A video was released on Wednesday, 11/6, showing the suspect inside of Chernoff's home (Video of Rhawnhurst Murder Suspect). Chernoff was a veteran and worked at PHL airport. He also rescued cats around the city.

UPDATE:The 14-year-old girl has been charged with murder. Police are still working on motive.

A 22-year-old woman was shot and killed after she answered the door in the Cobbs Creek section of Philadelphia on Thursday night, 11/7. It happened around 7:10 p.m. on the 5800 block of Walton Avenue. There was a knock at the door and the young woman, who lives at the residence, opened the front door. An unknown man standing outside fired three shots, hitting her once in the chest at point blank range. She was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where she died a short time later. Police are looking at area surveillance cameras. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information should contact police at 215-686-TIPS.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Shoni Sanders.

A person is in custody after shots were fired inside a home in Doylestown, Bucks County, late Thursday afternoon, 11/7. Police responded to the Belmont Square area near the intersection of Court Street and East Street around 4:30 p.m. after reports of shots. They discovered that the shots had been fired inside one home and the shooter was still inside alone creating a barricade situation. Nearby esidents were told to either avoid the area or shelter in place unless otherwise evacuated. SWAT and special response teams responded to the location. The suspect was taken into custody around 6:00 p.m. and the shelter in place was lifted. The suspect in his 20s supposedly was alone in his home when he open fire several times. No bullets left the house.

UPDATE: 21-year-old Christopher Dalrymple is charged with discharging a firearm, reckless endangerment and other charges.
