New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will nominate Fabiana Pierre-Louis to the state Supreme Court. She would become the first black woman on the court if she is confirmed. "Tomorrow, I will submit Fabiana's name to the New Jersey State Bar Association's Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee, and I look forward to their review, and upon their approval, to Fabiana's formal nomination," the governor said. Officials announced Wednesday, 6/3, that the Frank Rizzo mural on 9th Street in South Philadelphia at the Italian Market will be replaced with a new mural. The current one was defaced with paint sometime Wednesday morning. The former mayor and police commissioner's statue was removed from Center City early Wednesday morning.

The City of Philadelphia removed the statue of former Mayor and Police Commissioner Frank Rizzo from Thomas Paine Plaza early Wednesday morning, 6/3. The 9-foot bronze statue had stood in front of the Municipal Services Building across from City Hall since 1999. It was originally paid for by private funds. Philadelphia officials defended the use of smoke and tear gas on protestors who had made their way onto the Vine Street Expressway I-676 on Monday afternoon, 6/1. A group of a few thousand peaceful protestors were marching west on Vine Street late in the afternoon. The group took up a few blocks. Philadelphia Police are investigating a series of ATM explosions across the city overnight that left one man dead. There were at least 10 ATMs vandalized and robbed in various locations across the city. Mostly smaller machines at convenience stores and mini-marts were targeted. The vandals would use an explosive, like an M80, to blow open the ATM and steal the cash.
