Hurricane Sandy, nicknamed Frankenstorm, is a Category 1 Hurricane and strengthening. Its maximum sustained winds are at 90 mph. Sandy is picking up speed, moving at 28 miles per hour and has the Jersey shore and Philadelphia in her crosshairs. President Barack Obama has signed emergency declarations for Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The declarations will allow officials in each state to request federal funding and other assistance for actions taken in advance of the huge storm. Forecasters say Hurricane Sandy could blow ashore Monday night or early Tuesday along the New Jersey coast, then cut across into Pennsylvania. Hurricane Sandy is still a Category 1 Hurricane with winds of 75 mph and now off the coast of North Carolina on Sunday night. It will continue on a northerly track before making a sharp left when it is off the coast of our area. Currently the forecast track has it making landfall somewhere near Atlantic City on Monday night. Of course that exact location will be better known the closer the time comes.

All models are in tight agreement that it will make a sharp left once it gets off shore of our area. The models now point to a landfall in New Jersey near Atlantic City. There has been a tragic ending to the search for Saanvi Venna, the 10-month-old baby girl who went missing in King of Prussia. In a press conference this afternoon outside the Upper Merion Township building, the Montgomery County District Attorney's office announced that her body was found at about 4:30 am Friday in a sauna located a bathroom in the basement gymnasium of one of the apartment buildings on the Marquis Apartment complex.

Hurricane Sandy is slowly chugging up the East Coast and all models suggest it is getting ready to hang a sharp left once it gets off shore of our area. Currently it looks as if it will make landfall in the Delaware Bay, instead of a direct hit on the Jersey Shore, however that track would expose NJ to the northern side of the storm and its onshore winds and storm surge. The missing 10 month old baby, Saanvi Venna, has been found dead and a suspect has been charged with the murder of the infant and her grandmother. The baby was apparently smothered and stuffed into a suitcase. Her body was found in the basement of the Marquis Apartments. Ransom notes were found at the apartment demanding $50,000. Hurricane Sandy has weakened, however the Category 1 hurricane is still projected to stay on track to impact the Philadelphia area and could make landfall in the Delaware Bay. Top wind speeds have fallen from over 100 down to 80 miles per hour, but Sandy is likely to stay organized through landfall on Tuesday.
