The new arena, called 76 Place, will be built using private funds and will be located on Market Street between 10th and 11th Streets as part of the Fashion District mall. A New Jersey man who conspired with his then girlfriend and a homeless veteran to create a false feel good story, and turned that into a $400,000 GoFundMe scam was sentenced on Friday, 4/1, on federal charges. Mark D'Amico will serve 27 months in prison followed by three years of probation. He must also pay restituion and undergo gambling, drug and mental health counseling. A New Jersey man accused of being the ringleader in a $400,000 GoFundMe scam involving his girlfriend and a homeless man pled guilty in federal court on Monday, 11/12. 42-year-old Mark D'Amico pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Katelyn McClure and Johnny Bobbitt Jr. previously pleaded guilty to state and federal charges. Two men have been charged with assaulting U.S. Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick with bear pray during the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6. 39-year-old George Tanios of Morgantown, West Virginia, and 32-year-old Julian Khater of State college, Pennsylvania, were arrested on Sunday 3/14. Philadelphia authorities are investigating after the body of a woman was found in the basement of a South Philadelphia home on Thursday evening, 1/16. It happened around 5:10 p.m. on the 2100 block of Porter Street. The sheriff’s department went to the home to serve a robbery warrant to a female at the property.
