Live Nation's House of Blues Entertainment division announced today with confetti and fireworks that it will be opening two new music venues along the Delaware Waterfront in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood. The complex will bare the famous "Fillmore" brand made famous by legendary rock promoter Bill Graham in the 1960's in San Fransisco. It will simply be known at "Fillmore Philadelphia." A high school in Delaware is at the center of a debate over the school's mascot and nickname. For the last 80 years Conrad High School has used the name Conrad Redskins and many alumni are resisting the "retire the mascot" committee. Native American mascots have already been phased out by more than 2,000 schools and sports teams in recent years.

April 16th is now known as Wawa Day in Philadelphia, marking the day that the company's first convenience store opened. Wawa anticipates giving away more than 1.5-million cups of free coffee today to all customers chain-wide. A Montgomery County drug task force has arrested two people and seized one kilogram of heroin in a drug bust in Norristown this week. Detectives intercepted a conversation between a Philadelphia area man and a Mexican drug trafficker about the purchase of kilogram amounts of heroin. New Jersey governor Chris Christie has proposed a $1 trillion overhaul of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The governor called for reduced Social Security benefits for seniors earning more than $80,000, and ending payments entirely for those making $200,000 or more, as well as an increase in the retirement age from 67 to 69.

Officials announced Monday that the reward for information in the case of the kidnapping and beating of a jewelry store employee early this month has risen to $20,000.
