Mayor Michael Nutter announced this year's recipient of the Marian Anderson award. The award recognizes critically acclaimed artists who not only have had great artistic achievements but have positively impacted society through their work, service, or support of important causes. This year, nine-time Grammy winning jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis will receive the award. Marsalis is also a producer and educator. Following the devastation in his native New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Marsalis immediately rallied and led the charge to save the city and keep the attention of the country on helping those affected along the Gulf. The award gala will be held November 10th.

While at a tour stop in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, British pop singer Ed Sheeran visited a shopping mall in West Edmonton. As he was walking through the stores he heard a girl singing his tune "Thinking Out Loud" and followed the voice to investigate. It turns out that teenager Sydney Bourbeau was performing on stage as part of the Resonate Music School & Studio's 2015 Play for Pets fundraiser concert to benefit The Edmonton Humane Society. Sheeran decided to jump up on stage and join her. It takes a second of surprise before she realizes it is actually him. He then joined her for the rest of the song. Watch the video of the lead up and duet below:
