Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf dispelled rumors that his administration would be shutting down schools statewide this fall as the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic continues. "There are widespread rumors that I will soon be announcing a statewide school building closure or cancelling classes this fall. Musikfest 2020 has moved its 10-day festival online this year due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania outdoor music festival usually attracts 1.2 million for free music performances across 17 stages along with German themed food and crafts. The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Board of Directors voted to allow fall sports for the upcoming school year earlier this week. They approved the recommendations of individual sport's steering subcommittees and the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. All sports will follow the Pennsylvania Department of Health restrictions. The Philadelphia School Board voted on Thursday, 7/30, to approve the School District's revised reopening plan 7-1. Superintendent William Hite introduced a new plan this week that will start the school year off all-digital after receiving push back from parents, teachers, and staff on the original hybrid plan during last Thursday's 8-hour meeting. The Philadelphia Housing Authority has extended its eviction moratorium until March 15, 2021. The PHA said it does not want housing to a be a concern for the 80,000 low-income families 'disproportionately affected' by the pandemic. The warning period for speed cameras installed along the Roosevelt Boulevard is about to expire. Cameras were installed in eight locations on June 1. There has been a 60-day grace period where speeders were just sent warnings. The vendor in charge of the cameras said the volume of warnings is one of the highest in the country.
