The Philadelphia Phillies have released their schedule for the 2020 60-game abbreviated schedule. Opening Day is July 24 with a home series vs the Miami Marlins. This season we will be playing 40 games against NL East teams and 20 games against AL East Teams. This will reduce travel and decrease possible exposure to only the other 9 eastern teams. The July 4th weekend was especially violent in Philadelphia. Since Friday, 34 were shot and nine people died. The shootings occurred across all areas of the city. There have been some arrests and some weapons were recovered. A 6-year-old was shot and killed on Sunday early afternoon in Holmesburg. Police say that incident was an accident. A fire damaged a large building converted into apartments in West Philadelphia on Sunday morning, 7/5. It happened around 6:30 a.m. on the 4200 block of Parkside Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood. A Good Samaritan came to the rescue of a woman who fell onto the tracks at a SEPTA subway station earlier this week. The incident was caught on surveillance video. Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine announced a new order on Wednesday, July 1, that masks or face coverings are now mandatory anytime you leave your home.
