New Jersey lawmakers have now sent Governor Chris Christie a measure that would raise the smoking age to 21 in the state. The Democratic controlled Senate wants to raise the smoking age from 19 to 21, only allowing anyone above the age of 21 to buy tobacco and electronic cigarettes. The Senate previously approved the measure, but Gov. Christie vetoed it. The Senate is unsure how Christie will feel about the measure this time around. Officials in Bucks County have announced a new program aimed at fighting the growing drug epidemic. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub along with Bucks County Crime Stoppers made the announcement outside of the Falls Township Municipal Building in Fairless Hills. Search crews have recovered the body of a New Jersey teenager who got swept away in the current while swimming with friends in a Hamilton Township lake on Wednesday afternoon. 17-year-old Marty Barchue of Hamilton Township and three other friends were swimming at Rowan Lake at Roebling County Park when they were caught in a thunderstorm. The group of storms on Wednesday night delayed 4 of SEPTA's regional rail lines, leaving many passengers upset and without any means of transportation. Debris and downed trees shut down the Paoli Thorndale, Fox Chase, Warminster and Wilmington Lines. The judge in the Bill Cosby sexual assault trial has ruled that the names of the jurors can be released. The trial ended in a mistrial on Saturday after the panel of 12 jurors deliberated for more than 52 hours over 6 days and failed to reach a verdict on 3 counts. The Pennsylvania Department of Health have announced the names of 12 groups that were awarded medical marijuana grower-processor permits. The state is divided into six regions, with two permits allocated in each region. Prime Wellness LLC of Sinking Spring and Franklin Labs LLC of Reading received the permits in the Southeast region. A stretch of 5th Street in Old City was closed Monday night after an underground fire occurred. Crews blocked off the road between Chestnut and Walnut streets. Fire crews arrived on the scene after smoke began to rise from underneath the manhole in the street. Crews were able to get the fire out, but the road remained closed the majority of the night, as they wanted to ensure the safety of vehicles driving on the road. Fire crews are still investigating what caused the fire.
