Girl Attacked by Dog in Newark; Mother and Son Hit by SEPTA; NJ Man Arrested in Sex Sting

An 8-year-old girl in Newark, Delaware was critically wounded after being attacked by a pit bull on Saturday afternoon. It happened around 1 pm on the unit block of Adelene Drive. The girl and her 15-year-old sister were inside their home when the family dog attacked the younger one. The older sister was able to call 911 and keep the dog away. Philadelphia Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to the 15-year-old girl shot in front of Einstein Hospital. 15 year old Quadir Gibson from the 5900 block of Horrocks Street has been charged with the murder of Aisha Abdur-Rhaman and attempted murder of a 19-year-old male who is in critical condition. The Mastersons and Justin Currie appeared at the Tin Angel on Monday Sept. 22 to a sold out crowd. I was there to see and hear The Mastersons, but really enjoyed both acts. It was an enthusiastic crowd. The Tin Angel is acoustically superb with the perfect set up for acts of no more than 3 or 4 performers. In what may be a silver lining in a very dark cloud over Philadelphia, the attack on the gay couple in Center City has galvanized citizens to change hate crime laws at the state and local levels. Legislators here are introducing a bill that would include sexual orientation as a hate crime which would draw an extra 90 days behind bars and a $2,000 fine.

At least one person was injured after a minivan crashed into a house in New Castle County, Delaware Thursday night. It happened just after 5pm at the 700 block of Darley Road in Claymont. Witnesses saw the vehicle wobbling out of control and then careened off the road and into the house. The house was destroyed with bed and belongings were strewn about. Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who used a hypodermic needle to rob a donut shop in Old City on Sunday. It happened at the at the Dunkin’ Donuts in the 800 block of Chestnut Street just before 7 a.m. on September 21st. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video. Trooper ambush suspect Eric Frein is still on the loose. He is believed to hold a grudge against police authority.
