Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday, 3/16, that all Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores in the state of Pennsylvania will close at 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th. Stores in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties were already set to close by 9 p.m. Monday, 3/16. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced on Monday, 3/16, that he is extending the shutdown orders to the rest of the state. Only essential businesses should remain open. The order had only previously effected four counties in suburban Philadelphia and one in Pittsburgh. "This isn't a decision that I take lightly at all," Wolf said. "It's one I'm making because medical experts believe it's the only way we can prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed."

Man Shot to Death in Glenside; Three Murders in Philly on Sunday; Penn Relays Canceled

Cheltenham Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Glenside on Sunday night, 3/15. It happened just after 9 p.m. on the 400 block of West Glenside Avenue. The 28-year-old man was shot in the chest. He was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not been released. CDC Says No Crowds More Than 50 for 8 Weeks; NJ Schools Closing; Restaurants/Bars Close in PA

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended no gatherings of 50 or more people take place for the next 8 weeks in order to contain the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. This new guideline was issued on Sunday night, 3/15.

The School District of Philadelphia announced that 30 sites will be serving two grab-and-go meals a day, breakfast and lunch. They will be open between 9 a.m. and noon each day. Pennsylvania announced on Friday, 3/13, that it received a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to allow eligible schools to serve meals to low-income students by drive-through or grab-and-go settings during the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. The School District of Philadelphia announced on Thursday night, 3/12, that 63 schools would be closed on Friday, 3/13, due to staffing shortages. The shortages were a result of fallout from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. Earlier in the day, Governor Tom Wolf ordered mass closings of schools, gyms, community centers, and entertainment centers in Montgomery County and urged county residents to restrict unnecessary travel.
