Germantown Apartment Shooting, 30 Under 30 Summit, PGW Sale Plans Delayed |

A man was found shot dead in an apartment Sunday night in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on the 100 block of Manheim Street. The 52-year-old victim was shot twice – once in the chest and once in the shoulder. He was taken to Temple Hospital where we was pronounced dead about a half hour later. Police say they recovered two guns at the scene and are continuing to investigate.

An 8-year-old girl in Newark, Delaware was critically wounded after being attacked by a pit bull on Saturday afternoon. It happened around 1 pm on the unit block of Adelene Drive. The girl and her 15-year-old sister were inside their home when the family dog attacked the younger one. The older sister was able to call 911 and keep the dog away. Philadelphia Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to the 15-year-old girl shot in front of Einstein Hospital. 15 year old Quadir Gibson from the 5900 block of Horrocks Street has been charged with the murder of Aisha Abdur-Rhaman and attempted murder of a 19-year-old male who is in critical condition. In what may be a silver lining in a very dark cloud over Philadelphia, the attack on the gay couple in Center City has galvanized citizens to change hate crime laws at the state and local levels. Legislators here are introducing a bill that would include sexual orientation as a hate crime which would draw an extra 90 days behind bars and a $2,000 fine.

At least one person was injured after a minivan crashed into a house in New Castle County, Delaware Thursday night. It happened just after 5pm at the 700 block of Darley Road in Claymont. Witnesses saw the vehicle wobbling out of control and then careened off the road and into the house. The house was destroyed with bed and belongings were strewn about. Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who used a hypodermic needle to rob a donut shop in Old City on Sunday. Police say a man has died after he was shot twice in the head in South Philadelphia Wednesday night at the 500 block of Watkins Street. The victim, between the age of 18 and 20, was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead. An investigation is underway.
