Broad St Line Weapons Suspect Arrested, Kensington Antique Cars Damaged, Phillies Win 2nd In A Row |

A suspect carrying several weapons, including an AK-47, was arrested Tuesday evening aboard a Broad Street train, crowded with rush-hour commuters, at the Fairmount Station. In addition to the AK-47 assault weapon with a magazine carrying 40 live rounds of ammunition, authorities say the suspect had on him a .38 revolver and a 12-inch bayonet. Inside the bag, in addition to the weapons, police say they found $700 cash, seven containers of suspected marijuana and 22 Percocet pills.

Fast moving storms dumped about one to two inches of rain in a short period of time today, leaving streets flooded in Wildwood and North Wildwood. A group of four were huddled under an umbrella near Cedar Avenue seeking shelter during the storm when a bolt of lightning struck nearby and traveled up the umbrella, injuring a male and female. The two were taken to the Cape Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating a double shooting in the Wynnefield section of the city last night near 54th and Berks streets.
One of the men who was shot drove himself to Presbyterian hospital. The second man, who was shot in the face, is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Authorities are investigating whether the two men were shooting at each other.

An American Airlines flight landed safely at Philadelphia International Airport this afternoon after it reported smoke in the cockpit. The plane landed without further incident and all 132 passengers onboard are believed to be okay.
Philadelphia Police released the identity of the man wanted in connection with the sexual assault and burglary of a 78 year old woman in Germantown. He is 24 year old Ronald Gregory and he is the primary suspect in last week's break-in.

The FBI has made an arrest in the scam that duped Philadelphia weatherman John Bolaris twice out of more than $43,000 in credit card charges. Alec Simchuk picked up in Miami, is a nightclub owner with alleged ties to an Eastern European crime ring that uses attractive women to scam unsuspecting men into parting with their credit cards. Bolaris was scammed back in 2010 two days in a row.

Authorities have found the body of a 52-year-old Bucks County man who vanished off the coast of North Wildwood last weekend. Brad Smith's body was found Monday morning on a city beach. Authorities say the Horsham resident and another man were walking with their daughters in knee-deep water in the Hereford Inlet late Friday afternoon when they apparently fell into a drop in the sand.
