Jerry Sandusky found guilty on 45 of 48 charges.

Jerry Sandusky, 68, charged with 48 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys over a 15 year period was found guilty on 45 of 48 charges. Initially 52, 4 were thrown out during the course of the trial which started last Monday.

Lead Defense attorney Joe Amendola told reporters earlier today that he'd "probably die of a heart attack” if Sandusky beat all of the charges. “With 52 charges, do you know what the odds are of walking on all 48 or 52 charges? Very slim,”... Read More

Philadelphia Police Officer Jonathan Garcia Held For Trial, No Bail

Jonathan Garcia, a Philadelphia Police Officer from the South Philly 17th District, faced a federal magistrate today for a bond hearing. The magistrate ordered that Garcia must remain in federal custody pending trial.

Jury delivers mixed verdict for both Rev James Brennan and Monsignor William Lynn

The jury in the landmark clergy sex-abuse case has delivered their verdict on the 13th day of deliberations. They have stated they are hung on the two charges against Rev James Brennan for child endangerment and attempted rape and unable to deliver a verdict.

Archdiocese Cuts Catholic Standard and More Jobs, Sandusky's Son Allegations, Heat Damaged Roads

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will end publication of the Catholic Standard and Times and suspend Phaith Magazine. These and more cuts are an effort to reduce a projected deficit exceeding $17 million. The Archdiocesan Pastoral Center will reduce staff by 45 positions, consolidating 19 offices. There will also be no raises for the remaining staff next year.

A Roxborough woman is behind bars on charges she murdered a neighbor by stuffing a piece of rope down her throat. Philadelphia police say 49-year-old Geraldine Cherry is jailed on charges of killing 70-year-old Kathleen McEwan, who police say was in the care of Resources for Human Development. The piece of cotton rope was discovered after McEwan’s body was taken to John J. Breyers funeral home in Willow Grove to be prepared for burial.

Yesterday, 23-year-old Philadelphia police officer Jonathan Garcia was charged with selling heroin to a confidential informant working for the FBI. Garcia, a three year vet stationed at the 17th District in South Philly, was charged with four counts of distribution of heroin and two counts of carrying a firearm during drug trafficking. The jury in the Philadelphia Clergy Abuse case is gridlocked. The jury reports being hung on 4 of 5 charges. That’s all but one of the counts. Judge Teresa Sarmina is urging the jurors to continue deliberations and try to come to agreement on all counts when they resume on Friday.

Philadelphia police are searching for a woman who was caught on surveillance camera assaulting a man on a SEPTA bus last month. Police say a woman described as black, 5'5" with a stocky build boarded the bus, approached a man sitting a few rows behind her and began assaulting him,punched and slapped the victim, causing injuries to his head and face.
