Philadelphia Police are investigating a series of ATM explosions across the city overnight that left one man dead. There were at least 10 ATMs vandalized and robbed in various locations across the city. Mostly smaller machines at convenience stores and mini-marts were targeted. The vandals would use an explosive, like an M80, to blow open the ATM and steal the cash. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf amended the emergency disaster declaration in response to violent unrest that has broken out across the state to now include Montgomery, Delaware, and Erie counties. The declaration originally included Philadelphia, Dauphin, and Allegheny counties. Philadelphia has extended the city wide curfew again for Monday, June 1, starting 6 p.m. until Tuesday, June 2, at 6 a.m. People are only allowed to leave their homes to work at essential businesses or to seek medical or police assistance. On the second day of unrest in Philadelphia, widespread looting and destruction took over the city starting Sunday mid-afternoon. There were peaceful demonstrations in Center City calling for justice in the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd killed at the hands of police, but opportunists took advantage of the entire situation across the rest of city. Philadelphia has closed all streets in Center City from Vine Street to South Street between the Delaware River and the Schuylkill River. That shutdown includes interstate highways and the Ben Franklin Bridge. SEPTA is also not running through Center City. A Philadelphia police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect who was chasing a SEPTA employee in Frankford on Friday afternoon, 5/29. It happened around 5 p.m. on the 1500 block of Pratt Street in the SEPTA employee lot near the Frankford Transportation Center.
