A seven year old at Pennell Elementary school sustained second degree burns on his cheek after he smashed a hot packet of turkey taco meat served in the school cafeteria. The school district admits the food should not be that hot. There was also no school nurse on hand.

SEPTA officials say eight people were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation after a bus fire in West Oak Lane Monday night. The fire broke out in the right wheel area of a Route 22 bus near Broad Street and Olney Avenue. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Peter Laviolette today after an 0-3 start. Assistant Craig Berube, in his seventh season with the organization, will take over as the 18th coach in Flyers history. Laviolette was hired early into the 2009 season and led the Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. They made the playoffs the next two seasons but failed last season. A woman and two children are dead following a car accident on Route 29 in Trenton, Sunday afternoon. Jennifer Dawson of Bensalem was driving North on Route 29 when she lost control of her car and drifted into the southbound lanes. Her car was then struck by a pickup truck.
