Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine announced updated guidance in the fight against coronavirus COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon, 11/17. She noted that models suggest Pennsylvania hospitals will run out of beds in December and urged heath-care systems across the state to work together and prepare for that possibility, including deciding on the urgency of elective surgeries. Philadelphia Heath Commissioner Dr. Tom Farley announced new restrictions on Monday, 11/16, called 'Safer at Home' aimed to fight this new wave of coronavirus COVID-19. The restrictions go into effect starting Friday, November 20 through January 1, 2021. Farley said that the City of Philadelphia is now averaging 700 new daily positive cases at a 13% positivity rate. Defense attorneys plan to use an insanity defense in the case of a woman charged with the murder of her two young children. They were found in the basement of their Lehigh Valley home last year. 37-year-old Lisa Synder is charged with first- and third-degree murder, child endangerment, and evidence-tampering in the deaths of 4-year-old Brinley and 8-year-old Conner.
