The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has drawn criticism from both sides of the Pro-Life Pro-Choice debate. Komen had decided to drop support for Planned Parenthood's breast cancer screening efforts. After outrage from legions from the Pro-Choice side, Komen reversed its decision. The reversal is drawing sharp criticism from the Pro-Life antiabortion side for caving to the pressure.

Apparently the Washington Nationals would rather see empty seats than Phillies fans in the seats of their ballpark. Forget You, Philly is the new cry from the Nationals top brass. They've named the campaign, "Take Back the Park." The Nationals plan to prevent Phillies fans from buying tickets by refusing to sell tickets to anyone who doesn't have a Washington, Maryland or Virginia address attached to their credit card. Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair to "see" his shadow on Thursday, in the process predicting six more weeks of winter.
The groundhog made his "prediction" on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill in the town for which he's named about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

A delegation from Chester delivered petitions to Governor Tom Corbett's office seeking state funds to keep the Chester-Upland schools open.
Four women and a child went to the governor's office carrying a petition they say contains almost 2,500 signatures seeking to keep the Chester-Upland School District open.

The Corbett administration has announced the guidelines of a controversial asset test it plans to re-impose in order for people to qualify for food stamps.
After discussions between the Department of Welfare and the Governor's Office and the Department of Agriculture the asset limit for food stamps has been set.

Here's an idea from a city councilwoman that would boost the revenues of the Philadelphia school district. Put advertising on school buses.
CBS 3 reported that City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown introduced a plan for what she admits would be a controversial money stream.
“If we win approval from the state, this bill will allow the city of Philadelphia to place advertisements on the back of school buses.â€

Retired Archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua died in his sleep at 9:15 Tuesday night in his residence at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.
Bevilacqua served as the Archbishop of Philadelphia for 15 years - from 1988 to 2003, succeeding Cardinal John Krol.
He was elevated by Pope John Paul II to Cardinal in 1991. He was succeeded by Cardinal Justin Rigali.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "Soul Train" creator and host Don Cornelius was found dead at his Sherman Oaks, CA home early Wednesday morning.
He apparently died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound. There was no sign of foul play when authorities arrived at his home at 4 a.m., but the Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating the incident. There has been no official determination of what happened, the investigation is still ongoing.
