UPDATE: All Four Philadelphia Catholic High Schools Will Be Saved
Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput will announce his decision on the appeals of the 3 Catholic high schools today at 3 pm. The Blue Ribbon Commission had recommended closing West Catholic, St. Hubert, Conwell-Egan and Bonner-Prendergast High Schools last month. The 3 later schools filed appeals of that recommendation, West Catholic did not.

Lower Merion school district officials have sent a letter home to parents warning them of a YouTube video that contains high school students using drugs and alcohol. The video called "I'm Shmacked" shows binge drinking, marijuana use, window smashing, and use of drugs and alcohol.

The annual Penn State 46 hour dance marathon, which was held this weekend from Friday, Feb. 17 6pm. to Sunday, Feb 19 4pm, has raised a record $10,686,924.83. THON benefits pediatric cancer patients with the money going to The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. This year's total significantly shatters last year's record $9.5 million total.

Comcast Cable Communications based in Philadelphia has filed a federal lawsuit against Sprint Nextel alleging that they have infringed on four of Comcast's patents. The patents include the very core features of Sprint's service including a 2005 Comcast patent called "Transferring Of A Message".

18 schools have won their appeals after being recommended for closure and/or merging by the Blue Ribbon Commission to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia earlier this year. Each school had to present their case, along with the school they were being merged with, as to why they were wrongly targeted or the information used to make the initial decision might have been incorrect.

At least four Catholic schools that appealed the Blue Ribbon Commission's closure recommendations to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia say they have won those appeals. Official word is not expected until tomorrow.

Delaware County officials warned of the devastating effects of the closings of the Sunoco and ConocoPhillips refineries in Marcus Hook and Trainer on Wednesday. They cited a state analysis they requested that said that for every job lost at the refinery, 18 non-refinery jobs would either be lost, lose hours, or in some other way be affected.
