Democratic Congressman Chaka Fattah, along with four others, have been indicted today on multiple counts of conspiracy, racketeering, bribery, money laundering and other charges. The indictment covers schemes going back to 2007 when Fattah unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of Philadelphia. A man lost his leg after being pinned underneath a freight train in the Bustleton section of Philadelphia this morning. It happened around 2:30am near Welsh Road and Grant Avenue when the man was hit by the train, and his leg became pinned underneath. It took rescue crews and a surgical team from Einstein Medical Center more than 2 hours to get the 46-year-old free.

A church group from North Jersey has decided to stay at the Philadelphia Zoo the weekend of the Papal Visit. A group of parishioners from a church in Ridgewood, Bergen County will be sleeping on the ground inside buildings that contain insect and bird exhibits. The group of 240 parishioners are able to stay through the Zoo’s overnight program. It costs $65 per person, significantly cheaper than a hotel room in Philadelphia. The man who led authorities on a wild 2-hour chase between two states last night was wanted after stealing underwear. 54-year-old Robert F. Ritter of Blackwood, NJ is accused of stealing a pack of boxers and a pack of tank tops from the ShopRite in Brooklawn back on July 9th. SEPTA announced their updated plans to sell the Special Passes to ride Regional Rail during the weekend of the Papal Visit on September 26th and 27th. Last week, SEPTA attempted to put the passes directly on sale. High demand for the tickets caused the site to crash when it was launched and SEPTA suspended sales. The Boy Scouts of America on Monday ended its blanket ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored Scout units to maintain the exclusion for religious reasons. A firefighter was injured early Tuesday morning while fighting a blaze that broke out in in a home on the 5900 block of Kingsessing Avenue around 3:30am Tuesday. Everyone was able to get out of the burning home before they arrived, but one firefighter sustained a minor injury. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's daughter Bobbi Kristina has died at the age of 22. She passed away at the hospice facility where she has been since June 24 outside Atlanta. Bobbi Kristina was found in her bathtub on January 31, where she was believed to have been underwater anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes. Hundreds of residents were forced from their homes overnight after fire ripped through a 14-story apartment building in Pennsauken, New Jersey. The flames broke out just after 12 a.m. Monday on the third floor inside the Cooper River Plaza Apartments in the 5100 block of North Park Drive. No residents were injured. But one firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.
