Two Temple University football players accused of beating another student at an off-campus party back in January, are in court today. Dion Dawkins and Haason Reddick were suspended from the team, after turning themselves into police earlier this month. The 20-year-olds were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy, and recklessly endangering another person.

A new study of commute times shows the average Philadelphia driver spends nearly three days a year stuck in traffic. The navigation company TomTom released its annual Traffic Index report, measuring the impact traffic congestion has on over 200 cities around the world. The girlfriend of the off-duty Darby Officer who was shot and killed over the weekend has been charged with an incident from last summer. 27-year-old Tyaina Finch is charged with possession of an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault and terroristic threats in connection with an incident that happened last August when she allegedly threatened Officer Mark Hudson with a knife. Philadelphia City Council is talking today about a bill requiring regular safety inspections of food trucks' fuel tanks. Council is trying to prevent another deadly accident like the one that happened last July when a food truck erupted in flames on Feltonville Street. A taxi driver was arrested overnight after leading police on a chase and crashing into a fence in South Philadelphia. Police say they received calls of a taxi going the wrong way. Authorities have identified the off-duty Darby police officer who was shot and killed in his Glenolden home on Saturday afternoon. 26-year-old Darby Borough Officer Mark Hudson was found shot in the chest in an upstairs bedroom in the house on the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue around 4:30 pm Saturday. The co-pilot of the Germanwings aircraft that crashed into the French Alps Tuesday may have hid an illness from the airline according to German prosecutors. A search of the the Duesseldorf home of Andreas Lubitz, yielded no suicide note, and there is no evidence that political or religious factors were involved in the crash. A SEPTA bus driver found a four-year-old girl outside in the rain overnight by herself next to a bus stop at Torresdale Avenue and Magee Street. The driver let the girl on the bus until police arrived. It remains unclear how long she was outside before she was discovered. A two hour effort then followed to find the girl’s family and home.
