Lewis Katz, a self-made man who built his fortune in New York parking lots, billboards and cable TV, and went on to buy the NBA's New Jersey Nets, NHL's New Jersey Devils and The Philadelphia Inquirer, died in a weekend plane crash. A Delaware County man has been charged with stealing $357,000 worth of human skin grafts from a Philadelphia hospital. 54-year-old Gary Dudek of Wallingford worked as a sales representative for a Massachusetts-based regenerative medicine firm. He was in charge of placing orders for Mercy Hospital in West Philadelphia. A black bear spotted early Friday in Horsham Township, Montgomery County was eventually euthanized by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Several people spotted the bear around 2am behind the Wawa on Route 611 near County Line Road. The bear left the parking lot and disappeared back into the woods. Former Philadelphia radio personality, Dave Herman has died in jail. Herman, 78 years old was in custody in a New Jersey jail awaiting trial on charges in a child-sex sting. He was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night from the county jail after complaining of chest pains. Dave Herman introduced the album rock format on the FM dial in Philadelphia in the late 60's on WMMR with a show he called The Marconi Experiment.

A surgical center in central Pennsylvania is urging some of its patients to get tested for hepatitis and HIV after a review by state health officials. Former Philadelphia sportscaster Don Tollefson has been ordered held for trial after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing in a Bucks County court Thursday morning. He is accused of selling ticket and travel packages to individuals and groups under the guise of charity but never delivering the goods. It must be bear season in Bucks County. This is the second bear this week, this one showing up in Chalfont. The adult black bear estimated at several hundred pounds is giving Chalfont residents an unusually up close look at the wild, but police are warning residents not to approach or feed the bear. Officials plan to tranquilize and relocate the bear a safe distance from picnic baskets.

Early this afternoon a student at the Community College of Philadelphia rushed into a classroom and pulled a gun on a classmate. The confrontation led officials to evacuate the building and lockdown nearby middle and high schools.
