Six children and the bus driver were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton after an accident on Monday afternoon. The bus driver says she swerved to avoid hitting a deer, and the bus wound up in a ditch. Fourteen students were on the bus when the driver lost control and crashed into a ditch on Merrick Road, just off of Edgebrook Road.

The salary of a chef at a Camden Charter School has gotten attention because it is 25% higher than last year. Executive Chef Michele Pastorello of the LEAP Academy Charter is budgeted to earn $95,000 this year, $24,000 more than last year. Philly.com is reporting Pastorello is the live-in boyfriend of a school board member. The pay, well above market rate for a school chef, is being investigated.

A fire in Philadelphia revealed a marijuana growing operation at an abandoned home. After a Sunday fire in the 2600 block of North 27th Street, police searched an abandoned home next door and found materials used in growing pot. The house had been empty for about 6 months. No drugs were found at the scene.

The Philadelphia Navy Yard has announced that it recently reached the 10,000 employee threshold. Now planners are turning their attention to installing more amenities, including a nightlife. Just around the corner is a new hotel scheduled to be completed this year. Right at the entrance, they want to repurpose a brick building and convert it into a restaurant and bar.

The annual Penn State 46 hour dance marathon, which was held this weekend from Friday, Feb. 15 6pm. to Sunday, Feb 17 4pm, has raised a record $12,374,034.26. THON benefits pediatric cancer patients with the money going to The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. This year's total significantly shatters last year's record $10.6 million total.

Police have taken four people into custody this afternoon in connection with the abduction of 5-year-old Nailla Robinson last month. Authorities are also executing a search warrant on a house on the 6200 block of Walton Avenue in West Philadelphia in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood. Police questioned three women from that same exact house and took evidence for DNA testing last week.
