Philadelphia Police are investigating a robbery and double shooting that left one man dead and another in critical condition Thursday night. At about 9:15 p.m. near 54th and Ludlow streets. a 23 year old man was shot multiple times and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical condition. The second male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toxicology report was released today revealing what killed Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid's son, Garrett Reid. The county coroner declared it was an accidental heroin overdose. The DA added that a substantial number of needles and syringes were found in his room. The investigation is continuing to try to determine who sold Reid the drugs.

Garrett Reid, the son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid, died of a heroin overdose on August 5th. The Northhampton County coroner announced in a press conference Thursday afternoon that the 29-year-old's cause of death was "acute opiate (heroin) toxicity" and stated that the "manner of death is classified as accidental."

Terror averted. A 21 year old Bangladeshi man was arrested yesterday by the FBI for his plot to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. The man, Quazi Mohammad Nafis, arrived in the U.S. in January to carry out a terrorist attack using a weapon of mass destruction to avenge the killing of Osama Bin Laden. In a sting operation, the FBI gave the bomber inert materials to build what the terrorist thought was a 1,000 pound car bomb.

Governor Corbett is expected to sign legislation that would authorize a key element of Mayor Nutter's property tax reform plan, the so called "Actual Value Initiative". The mayor's plan will result in higher assessments for properties in the city. The bill passed by the House and sent to the governor will allow the city to lower the millage rate to offset those assessment increases.

A man was shot and killed last night in Juniata. He and his wife were walking home at about 8 pm when they noticed they were being stalked. Two teenagers wearing masks approached them, shot the man and fled the scene. The victim was carrying a large amount of marijuana but nothing was taken. Police are investigating a motive.

City officials say the Philadelphia police officer caught on video using his baton to help make an arrest at a South Street block party last month has been sued in federal court 13 times. A review of the cases shows they involved charges of unreasonable force and unlawful arrest, among others. Commissioner Charles Ramsey says Internal Affairs is investigating to see if Officer William Gress used excessive force, but he says any past cases won’t figure in to the investigation.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon for Arlen Specter. Specter died Sunday at home from complications of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He was 82. Specter was the longest-serving U.S. Senator in Pennsylvania history. Funeral services started at noon at Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley and were open to the public.
