New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed an executive order on Tuesday, 4/7, closing all state and county parks. The order takes effect at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will continue until the public heath hazard is over. The order states that 'instances of non-compliance' with social distancing guidelines have continued in parks 'despite warnings and orders to disperse gatherings, ejections from the parks, and the issuance of citations by law enforcement.' Wildwood and North Wildwood, New Jersey, have issued a number of new rules regarding use of the beaches, boardwalk, seawall, and bike path in response to coronavirus COVID-19. The beaches will be closed starting midnight Wednesday, April 8th. Sunbathing, sitting in chairs, lying on blankets, organized sports, and grouping of people on the beach is prohibited. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney confirmed the death of a Philadelphia police officer from coronavirus COVID-19 over the weekend. 59-year-old Lt. Jimmy Walker was a supervisor in the traffic division. Philadelphia Police are searching for three suspects wanted in the assault of a postal worker on a SEPTA platform last week. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, 4/1, on the platform of the Broad Street Line at City Hall. The alleged attackers seemed to randomly target the man waiting for the subway, kicking and punching him to the ground. The suspects videoed their attack and put it on social media. Governor Phil Murphy has ordered that all flags across New Jersey be lowered to half staff indefinitely in honor of those that have been lost. The City of Ventnor has closed its beaches and boardwalk until further notice. All 4x4 permits are no longer valid for the beach.
