Fire broke out near a bait and tackle shop in Sea Isle City on Sunday afternoon, 6/16. It happened around 12:30 p.m. on the 300 block of 43rd Place. Fire started in a shed near Two Chums, a bait, tackle and boat rental shop. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and thick black smoke, which could be seen from all over the island. Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in finding a missing boy. 4-year-old Juan Benacio of Northeast Philadelphia was last seen around 2 p.m. Friday, 6/14, by his father at his home on the 6700 block of Castor Avenue. He is 4 feet tall and weighs 60 pounds. He was wearing a blue shirt and brown pants. Juan and his father recently emigrated here from Guatemala. Legendary singer and Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle will be recognized during the Wawa Welcome America Festival on July 2nd with a street renamed in her honor. A portion of Broad St and Spruce St along the Avenue of the Arts will be renamed Patti LaBelle Way. The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBC10. The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Gloucester County, New Jersey, on Thursday evening, 6/13. It happened just before 9 p.m. They say the same tornado touched down twice; once in in Mullica Hill as an EF0, then again near Deptford as an EF1. There were Tornado Warnings for areas in Southeast Pennsylvania including Philadelphia as well as South Jersey. A juvenile black bear that had been roaming the Philadelphia area the past week has been captured. It was first seen in Warrington, Bucks County, on Saturday, 6/8. The bear was then spotted wandering through neighborhoods in Montgomery County, Oreland on Monday and Wyndmoor on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, the bear was seen on train tracks just west of the East Falls SEPTA station. Dozens of Philadelphia Police officers have been placed on desk duty as a result of an ongoing investigation into controversial Facebook posts made by officers. Upwards of 50 officers have been taken off the streets. The police department has not confirmed the exact number it has grown to from the original 10 officers. The Penn Museum in University City has been 'rearranging the furniture' the past couple of days, but instead of adjusting some couches and chairs, they are moving a 3,000-year-old stone sphinx that weighs 25,000 pounds. The statue is of Pharaoh Ramses II is the largest sphinx statue in the western hemisphere. It arrived in Philadelphia by boat and landed in Port Richmond in 1913. A black bear that has been seen in areas of Bucks and Montgomery Counties was spotted in the East Falls section of Philadelphia on Wednesday morning, 6/12. The approximately 100-pound bear was roaming on train tracks just west of the East Falls SEPTA station at around 11:20 a.m. Train service has not been affected. A new 47-story condominium tower broke ground on Tuesday, 6/11, across Broad Street from the Kimmel Center. Arthaus is being built by Dranoff Properties and is designed by Philadelphia-native architect Eugene Kohn. It will have 108 units or 'haus.' A Good Samaritan caught a glimpse of a woman getting attacked off of a New Jersey highway last week. He got out of his vehicle and was able to stop the assault and save the woman.
