A driver is dead after he crashed his pickup truck into Lower Moreland High School on Saturday afternoon. It happened just before 2 p.m. on the 500 block of Red Lion Road in Lower Moreland. Witnesses saw the truck speeding across the parking lot, without any breaking or slowing down, and plow right through the side of the building. The NTSB interviewed the engineer and two assistant conductors on Friday following Tuesday's Amtrak 188 derailment in Philadelphia. At a 5:30 press conference, National Transportation Safety Board member Robert Sumwalt relayed what those Amtrak crew members told investigators. The engineer, Brandon Bostian, said that before the wreck he did not feel fatigued or ill before the wreck and the train did not have any operational problems. Earlier today an 8th fatality was discovered in the wreckage of the Amtrak 188 train derailment in Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. 43 passengers remain in the hospital following Tuesday night's crash, 8 are in critical condition. 238 passengers and 5 crew were aboard the train when it derailed along a curve in the Frankford Junction section of track. About a dozen passengers remain missing from the Amtrak derailment as officials work to reconcile Amtrak's manifest with hospital records and other information. The death toll could rise as crews continue to comb through the wreckage. Clean-up at the site, where all but two cars have been removed, is underway.

The train derailment in Philadelphia's Port Richmond neighborhood is impacting travel for the Wednesday morning commute. On Wednesday, Amtrak says modified Amtrak service will be provided between Washington and Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Philadelphia, and New York and Boston. There will be no Amtrak service between New York and Philadelphia, but New Jersey Transit will honor Amtrak tickets between New York City and Trenton.
