The suspect wanted in connection with the vandalism on Manayunk's new Venice Island Park has turned himself into police. Northwest Detective Division received an anonymous tip over the weekend identifying the teenager in the surveillance video. The 15-year-old was charged with criminal mischief. The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis will visit Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families in 2015. The Pope is expected to participate in closing ceremonies on the Ben Franklin Parkway Friday, September 25th to Sunday, September 27th. Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput and his contingent were present when the Holy Father made the announcement. Chaput is overjoyed.

A ten-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself in the face Saturday night was reported Sunday to be in stable condition. According to police, the Darby boy found his father's gun at about 10:20 PM Saturday night, after being dropped off by his mother. Chief Leonard McDevitt credits the first two responding officers with saving the child's life.

Demolition crews working in Center City will try to remove the iconic PNB signs off the top of One South Broad Street for the second time. The first attempt happened on August 17th but the 16-foot letters were too fragile and only three were removed. This time the letters will be wrapped in a protective coating before being lowered to the street by helicopter. There will be road closures beginning at 6 a.m. and lasting until 4 p.m. all around City Hall.

An armed robbery suspect shot by Delaware State Troopers this afternoon has died. The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old William 'Billy' McNulty, of Claymont, DE. Both robberies occurred on Friday morning. Authorities say that around 6:00 a.m. he approached a female withdrawing cash from the ATM at the M&T Bank located at 3530 Philadelphia Pike armed with a gun. The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park next to City Hall in Philadelphia officially opened this afternoon. It's the final piece to be shown in the revamping of the former Dilworth Plaza. An 80 year old Upper Darby man put up quite a fight with police when they tried to subdue him Wednesday night. Labeled "one nasty senior citizen" by police, Joseph Smith had called 9-1-1 and threatened to kill himself and the dispatcher. Eric Frein, responsible for murdering a Pennsylvania state trooper, has had terroristic charges added to his existing list of offenses. The state police say that Frein called the killing "an assassination" in an interview with authorities. Letters were found of Frein's claiming a revolution is necessary to regain liberties that have been lost. Prosecutorsn are seeking the death penalty for Eric Frein.
