A four-alarm fire gutted a church in the East Oak Lane section of Philadelphia Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported at about 1 p.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church. A tight-knit congregation is left grief stricken after the fast moving fire claimed their church only a short time after morning services. Fire officials say about 120 firefighters and 133 pieces of apparatus responded to the blaze.

The Philadelphia Phillies lost tonight (or rather early Sunday morning) to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the longest game played in Phillies' history by time. The game went 7 hrs 6 min & had 35 hits, 19 runs, 28 walks, 32 k's, 20 pitchers and 712 pitches. A Lehigh University student has been found dead. According to the school, 19 year old Hanlon MacDonald from Albany, New York was found dead Thursday night inside her apartment. An autopsy has been scheduled but authorities say the death does not appear to be suspicious.

A window washer fell this afternoon while working on a building across from Rittenhouse Square. There were three workers washing windows at around 2pm. The man fell from the seventh floor to a roof outside the second floor above the lobby of the Rittenhouse Claridge apartment building at 201 S. 18th Street. Wilmington police arrested a family after a mother led her two sons and a friend on a vehicle break-in spree. The incident occurred early Monday morning as officers responded to a 911 call reporting thefts from vehicles in the 1400 block of Stapler Place. A missing pet boa constrictor has been found after a week on the loose. The seven-foot snake, whose name is "Snakey," went missing from the backyard of its Swarthmore home where it was left out to sun. Neighbors have been on alert but can rest easy now that it has been returned to it's owner. It was found in a yard a few blocks away home.

In one of baseball's most unusual promotions, The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs ran an essay contest with the grand prize a funeral, complete with casket, flowers and headstone. The winner was announced in the 6th inning Tuesday, Steve Paul of Freemansburg who is suffering from ALS.
