The Sixers have now stated that Jahlil Okafor will be joining the team on Wednesday night against the Celtics. Okafor has been in the midst of a trade rumor between the Sixers and the Pelicans, and has not been playing much because of it. Head Coach Brett Brown said earlier this week that playing Okafor in the middle of the trade talks could complicate things. Coach Brown stated "It's still fluid but if you see me not play him, that's probably the reason."

The Sixers General Manager Bryan Colangelo has updated Joel Embiid's injury report and says that Embiid has a "very minor meniscal injury" in his left knee. Colangelo also stated that his knee injury is not the source of the pain that has kept Embiid out for nine straight games. Colangelo also talked to reporters after the Sixers beat the Heat on Saturday 117-109 stated that the MRI taken of Emiid's knee showed a small tear and bruise. The Magic will be missing forward Aaron Gordon, who left the Magic's game against the Rockets on Tuesday with a bruised right foot. ESPN will be releasing the top 50 rising stars in the NBA of 2016-2017 season over the next 10 days, leading up to the Rising Stars Challenge during the All-Star Weekend. Numbers 50-41 were released today, and Sixers rising center Jahlil Okafor was ranked at number 43. The Phillies have announced they signed former Chicago Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan to a minor league contract. Coghlan played for the Cubs for the 2014 and 2015 season, and part of their World Series 2016 season. In 2009, Coghlan won the National League Rookie of the Year Award while he was on the then Florida Marlins. The Phillies have invited Coghlan to come to spring training in Clearwater this spring.

The Flyers started to fall short in the first period as the Hurricanes led 2-0 and out shot the Flyers 8-4. The Hurricanes then scored again, making it 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period. The Sixers were able to seal a 122-119 victory over the Kings on Monday even without the help of star center Joel Embiid who was out with a left knee contusion. The Sixers were down 16 points in the first half, but they scored 42 points in the third quarter giving them the lead they needed to get a victory.
