A ten year old boy, charged with the crime of fatally beating 90-year-old woman, is to remain in adult prison today after his lawyer withdrew his request for bail. The lawyer said that the boy's family is not ready to take him into custody yet. The beating occurred Saturday in Damascus Township, Wayne County when the boy was spending the weekend at his grandfather's house, who is the caretaker of the deceased woman. A popular urban dirt biker was shot and killed this afternoon in Southwest Philadelphia. Police were called to the 2100 block of South 60th Street near Kingsessing for a report of a gun. They found 23-year-old Kyrell Tyler aka "Dirt Bike Rell" inside a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo shot several times in the head, neck, and torso. A second health care worker in Dallas has tested positive for the Ebola virus. The worker had provided care for Thomas Eric Duncan who died from the disease on October 8th. State lawmakers passed a measure that could clear the way for sports betting in New Jersey. The bill is the latest in a years-long effort to authorize sports wagering, a push that still faces legal challenges. The state Senate passed the measure on Tuesday. Democratic State Sen. Raymond Lesniak authored the bill that partially repeals prohibition of sports betting. The Assembly is expected to vote Thursday on the issue.

Ebola caused the death of a United Nations medical worker last night at a hospital in Germany. The 56 year old man was infected with Ebola in Liberia and died despite “intensive medical procedures†at the hospital. The man tested positive on October 6th and 41 other UN staff members who may have had contact with him are now under close medical observation.

Police are investigating after they say a man was shot four times in Northeast Philadelphia Monday night at the 7000 block of Castor Avenue. Philadelphia Police say the man was shot in the leg, arm, shoulder and suffered a graze wound to the head. He was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus in critical condition.
