Philadelphia has endured record cold this winter and we are in it again. Single digit lows and highs only reaching the 20's are 20 degrees below normal for this time of year. The wind is pushing chill factors below zero so dress accordingly these next few days. Bundle up and cover all exposed skin. And if you're traveling by car, bring a blanket, water and a cell phone in case of a breakdown.

The widow of longtime Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been hospitalized after a fall. Paterno family spokesman Dan McGinn said Sue Paterno fell on campus while going to a memorial service on Thursday and she’s hospitalized for observation. She is expected to be released from the hospital in a day or two.

The masked suspect wanted in a bank robbery and two attempted robberies in Delaware County in January has been arrested. 29-year-old Blair Thomas, Jr. from East Lansdowne has been charged with the three crimes. On January 22nd he attempted to rob both the Yeadon and Darby Post offices. He was armed with a .45-caliber Ruger handgun and was wearing a distinctive rubber mask. Trenton's mayor has been removed from office and replaced after a corruption conviction. Mayor Tony Mack was convicted February 7th and a new acting Mayor has been named. He is George Muschal (muh-SHELL), a former city council president. Muschal was sworn in yesterday in a private ceremony and the 66 year old retired police officer says he has no intention of seeking a full term at election time in May.

Four men have been charged with bribing and attempting to shoot a witness to a 2010 shooting case. 35-year-old Charles Alexander, 42-year-old Troy Cooper, 37-year-old Aki Jones, and 21-year-old Shaheed Williams have been charged with Attempted Murder, Witness Intimidation, Aggravated Assault, and Conspiracy. Government research links indoor tanning by teenagers with other risks including binge drinking, unhealthy dieting and sexual activity. Scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found other behaviors were also more common among high school students who use sun lamps or indoor tanning beds than teens who don’t. A new survey by Harper Polling has York businessman Tom Wolf surging to the lead in the popularity polls in the Democratic race for governor. Wolf has run a heavy TV campaign across the state for the last month and now has 40 percent of the most likely voters, a significant lead over his closest rival, Allyson Schwartz who had 14 percent.

Philadelphia and its white-collar workers union reached a contract agreement that ends a five-year stalemate. Mayor Michael Nutter and District Council 47 Chief Fred Wright signed the deal, an eight-year-accord, dating back to 2009 and ending in 2017.
