We are currently in the middle of the latest winter storm to dump significant snow on the area and this one has helped make history. After this morning's accumulations a 130-year-old record was broken. For the first time in history there have been four snowfalls over 6+ inches in one season. This season has also moved up into the top 5 all time snowiest winters at 53.1". It's a good day to stay inside and listen to music. This winter storm won't let up until tomorrow morning. And because the storm is tracking the way it is Philadelphia may get a foot of snow. Northern and western suburbs will see over a foot before it's all over. It will lighten up at times this afternoon, but it is a Nor'easter and the back end of the storm will drop several more inches tonight and overnight as temperatures plummet and everything freezes.

Comcast to buy Time Warner for $44.2 Billion

Philadelphia-based Comcast is expected to announce Thursday that it has reached an agreement to buy Time Warner Cable for $44.2 billion in stock or around $159 per share.

Currently, Comcast has around 22 million subscribers or 21 percent of the country's pay-TV homes. The acquisition would increase that customer base to 33 million subscribers or 33 percent, solidifying Comcast's spot as the top provider of cable television services.

The Philadelphia Auto Show is keeping its doors open despite the snow. Getting to the Pennsylvania Convention Center might be the hardest part, and Donald Franks, the Auto Show's dealer chairman, says he hopes mass transit remains an option. This coming Saturday, the second Saturday of the show is generally the biggest day of the whole show.

In anticipation of the major winter storm bearing down on our area, a snow emergency will go into effect as of 8pm on Wednesday night in the City of Philadelphia. This means that if you have parked your vehicle along those designated routes you must move your car or it will be towed. If your car has been towed, call 215-686-SNOW for its location. Frustration with the slow pace of recovery from Superstorm Sandy boiled over Tuesday at a public hearing on the rebuilding process. Residents affected by Sandy blasted state officials over what they consider unconscionably long delays, unresponsive bureaucracy and incompetence in approving and distributing storm aid. The hearing in Galloway Township was the first of three scheduled for this week on the state's plans to spend the next $1.4 billion in federal storm recovery aid.

The Phillies and Comcast announced today that two former players from the 2008 World Series Championship team will be coming back to Philadelphia. Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs will be joining the television broadcast team of Tom McCarthy and Gregg Murphy. Moyer played 26 seasons in the Majors earning 269 wins as a pitcher. Shirley Temple has died. The child actress with curly hair and dimples won the hearts of movie-goers in the thirties, topping box offices from 1935 to 1938. Her movies included "Heidi," "Curly Top" and "The Littlest Rebel." Generations learned to sing "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and to this day her name is still on a sweet, non-alcoholic drink.
