A Florida based builder of high end movie theaters appears Tuesday at a Philadelphia Historical Commission hardship hearing to make its case for turning an old Art Deco movie palace on Chestnut Street into a high-end multi screen theater. Federal prosecutors have decided not to continue to pursue the remaining racketeering and gambling charges against reputed mob boss Joseph Ligambi. Ligambi was acquitted last week of witness tampering while the jury deadlocked on three other charges in the retrial. Philadelphia Police shot a man in North Philadelphia who allegedly fired at officers. About 3 am in the lobby of a public housing project the 31 year old suspect fired on police. Several returned fire hitting the man 4 times. The man was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where his condition is critical.

Chester High School was scheduled to open two hours late Monday because of issues to the school's heating system. School officials say the cold weather over the weekend affected their older heating system. School officials were working throughout the weekend to address the problem. An early morning fire on Saturday in Cape May severely damaged a historic bed and breakfast. Firefighters from the Cape May City Fire Department first responded to the Bedford Inn at 805 Stockton Ave at 5:30 a.m. The blaze was brought under control by 7 a.m. The inn was unoccupied at the time. The building was built in 1883. Officials have yet to determine a cause of the fire, but do not consider it suspicious.

Saturday's snow will come from a fast-moving clipper system that will drop 1-3" in Philadelphia and its nearby suburbs, with 3-5 inches of snow possible up to the Lehigh Valley and Poconos. Philadelphia Police have released video of the purse snatching and murder of 26 year old Amber Long in Northern Liberties as she walked with her mother. A $30,000 reward is being offered for information about the shooter. Video shows two hooded men approach the women, grabbing the purses spinning Amber Long around and being shot in the chest. A Bucks County psychiatrist is behind bars facing allegations he fondled three patients, including two minors. Dr. Basem Shlewiet, was arrested in his Doylestown Borough office Thursday afternoon. The Bucks County District Attorney’s office alleges Shlewiet took advantage of three patients; a 22-year-old woman and two girls ages 14 and 17. Authorities say the alleged assaults took place during the victims’ courses of treatment between April and December 2013.
