Philadelphia Police say Monday afternoon., a detective was in the area of 1600 South Corlies Street to serve a warrant with the Attorney General's Office, when he saw a man who appeared to be carrying a rifle. When the detective approached the man, he allegedly pointed the rifle at the detective, and the detective then discharged his Glock, never striking the man.

Authorities are looking for a man caught on surveillance video trying to firebomb a home in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened at 2:10 a.m. on January 9th outside a residence on the 2600 block of N Frankford Avenue in Port Richmond. A grand jury is investigating two Philadelphia police officials for the alleged cover-up of an arrest in 2012. According to the Daily News, Inspector Aaron Horne and Captain John McCloskey are the subjects of the probe. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended the pair but did not fire them after they tried to erase all traces of a violent incident in Oak Lane.

I had an extreme case of cabin fever on Friday Jan. 3rd when I decided to venture out into the weather to see and hear some live music. I took a drive to one of my favorite places, Vinyl Revival, to catch a concert by Benjamin Poole and Runaway Youth. The atmosphere inside was in total contrast to the weather. The concert was a sell out which surprised me, given the weather. The authentic and warm nature of the performance was reinforced by the appreciation of the audience.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who threw hot coffee on a Dunkin' Donuts employee. The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at 1pm on the 4700 block of North Broad Street. A customer became upset when a female Dunkin' employee would not accept an expired coupon he had on his iPhone.
