A recent study on Adult Obesity shows that Pennsylvanians are a bit larger around the waist than a few of our neighbors. The study was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and split out each state by the percentage of the population considered to be obese. The numbers are not very flattering. SEPTA Bus Collision Kills One, West Oak Lane Shooting, Camden K9 Heat Exhaustion Death

One person is dead and several people are injured after a SEPTA bus collided with a car in the West Oak Lane section of the city Monday night. The Acura, traveling northbound on Old York Road, veered into the oncoming lane and hit the southbound Route 55 bus. The female passenger in the Acura died from her injuries, the driver is reportedly in critical condition.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is set to auction off its large beachfront property in Ventnor, NJ to help payoff some of a $17 million deficit. The 11-bedroom, 10,000 sq-ft Villa St. Joseph retreat has been a respite for priests for 50 years, but the $115,000 a year in property taxes combined with $10 million in legal fees spent by the Archdiocese in the past two years on a criminal trial and lawsuits has forced Archbishop Chaput's hand to sell. The Kensington Strangler case goes to court today. Antonio Rodriguez is charged with murdering three women, Elaine Goldberg, Nicole Piacentini and Casey Mahoney. DNA evidence linked Rodriguez to the murders and he has confessed. Rodriguez faces possible life in prison.

Each and every August as the Earth's annual orbit takes it through the remains of the comet Swift-Tuttle, we are treated to a dramatic show of meteors streaking through the sky called the Perseids. Named because they seem to radiate from the constellation Perseus, this meteor shower will peak this weekend through August 13th.

Mitt Romney has chosen a Vice Presidential running mate in his quest for the White House. He is Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
