Valley Forge Backup, First Day of Spring-FREE Rita's, Hite Only Took Pay Cut

Valley Forge Park is a good place to avoid right now as roads remain closed or restricted due to the sewer main rupture that spilled about 5 million gallons of raw sewage onto roads and into Valley Creek. The main break happened near Routes 252 and 23 in Upper Merion Township. Waste water flowed into the creek for 30 hours. Authorities hope the high water from this winter will help dilute the potential damage to the fish and wildlife population.

The Pennsylvania Senate has passed a bill designed to give schools more flexibility in making up snow days from this brutal winter, but it's unclear whether it will get action in the state House. The bill, passed unanimously by the Senate, clarifies that schools can meet the minimum requirements for instruction by calculating hours instead of days. Philadelphia Police have used DNA evidence to identify and arrest a man for two murders committed 25 years ago. On St. Patrick's Day 1989, police were called to the scene of a possible rape and discovered the body of 19-year-old Ruby Ellis. She had been strangled and beaten. In April of 1989, police discovered another body in a burned out building. That body was identified as 33-year-old Cheryl Hanible and the cause of death again was strangulation. The Boyd Theatre demolition has begun. The Philadelphia Historical Commission granted permission to the owner to gut the 88 year old Philadelphia landmark and re-fit it for a new 8 screen movie house. The building's owner, Live Nation will sell the Boyd to developer Neal Rodin, who has partnered with Florida movie company iPic.

Coatesville Police say 14-year-old Victor Wilson of Coatesville who lives at the 500 block of Victoria Drive heard gun shots Tuesday evening. When Wilson walked to the window to see, he was hit in the stomach by a stray bullet. Wilson, a freshman at Coatesville High School, was rushed to Paoli Hospital while police searched the neighborhood.

Two Bucks County residents are facing theft and related charges for stealing 17 bronze plaques from graves in a Bensalem cemetery and selling them for scrap. Andrew Townsend and Danielle Holmberg were caught on video removing the markers at King David Cemetery. They then sold them for scrap metal for pennies on the dollar. They were worth around $7500. A 35-year-old man is hospitalized after a crash that involved a train and a car Monday afternoon at Main Street at Railroad Avenue in Ellendale, Delaware. A Subaru Impreza was driving eastbound on Main Street approaching the railroad tracks near Railroad Avenue. The newly crowned Miss Philadelphia 2014 made her first public appearance yesterday in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Miss Diamond Edmonds is a 24 year old teacher from North Philadelphia who nailed the competition with a tap dance routine at Saturday's finals at the University of the Arts. Miss Edmonds will compete in the Miss Pennsylvania pageant in June.
