Philadelphia principals tonight heard about the serious givebacks included in their tentative contract agreement with the financially-struggling school district. The deal calls for principals to be paid as 10-month instead of 12-month employees, and to begin paying health care premiums. The cash-strapped school district is demanding $133 million in concessions from its labor unions.

A woman was found dead inside her Gloucester County home last night. Investigators have ruled her death a homocide. 50-year-old Margaret Ann DePietro lived alone at The Grande complex in West Deptford. She was found by a family member at around 11pm after DePietro did not answer the phone earlier in the evening. The medical examiner conducted the autopsy today and determined the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds. The investigation is on going, but no arrests have been made.... Read More |

A routine traffic stop landed a Philadelphia police officer in the hospital this morning in North Philly at 11th and Cumberland when a mini-van being pursued by other patrol cars slammed into the stopped police cruiser with an officer inside. The driver of the mini-van, suspected of DUI, was running from police at 60 miles per hour, driving on the sidewalk and hitting parked cars. The injured officer was treated at Temple University Hospital and will be okay.

New Jersey investigators have identified the woman killed yesterday in the house explosion in Ewing Township. The explosion happened just before 1 pm Tuesday afternoon at 28 Crockett Lane in the South Fork Housing Community. The female victim has been identified as 62-year-old Linda Cerritelli who lived at the residence. Her body had been found by a cadaver dog on top of a car near the explosion. An overturned tractor trailer closed southbound lanes of I-95 this morning creating a traffic nightmare for anyone trying to get into the city during rush hour. The accident happened at about 5 am just past Woodhaven Road. The rig, blocking the road and fuel spill cleanup has shut both lanes between Woodhaven and Academy. No injuries were reported.

A female resident of a town home development was killed and seven utility workers were injured after a powerful explosion and fire in Ewing Township, Mercer County Tuesday. A massive explosion rocked the South Fork housing community in Ewing Township, NJ this afternoon killing 1 woman and injuring 7 others. It happened shortly before 1pm on Crockett Lane along I-95. A Swarthmore College graduate has been piling up his winnings on TV's Jeopardy. Arthur Chu, now 30 years old, has reached third on the show's list of money winners excluding special tournaments.
