Annual Polar Bear plunges on New Year's Day have become more popular as fundraisers in recent years. Yesterday, the 23rd annual Polar Bear plunge in Atlantic City attracted hundreds of people to strip down and take the plunge into water temperatures in the 40's. Organizers dispute the notion that exposure to extreme elements makes you susceptible to colds. The event raises thousands of dollars for the Multiple Sclerosis Association.

If you like fireworks, you have two opportunities to ring in the new year with a colorful blast at Penn's Landing over the Delaware River. The first show is at 6 pm tonight. Philadelphia residents can start dropping off their Christmas trees for recycling on Monday, January 6th. The Streets Department says the program will run for two weeks through Saturday, Jan. 18. | Monsignor William Lynn will be granted bail while his conviction on child endangerment goes through the appeals process. Judge Teresa Sarmina set bail at $250,000, requiring 10 percent to post. Lynn will also have to wear an electronic monitoring anklet while out on bail. A car crash this afternoon in Delaware County caused a gas leak and evacuation. The incident happened around 4:15 p.m on the 400 block of Darby Terrace in Darby, PA. A woman trying to parallel park hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and accelerated into a house hitting the gas meter. Dozens of homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. PECO was called to the scene to repair the gas line and metere. People have since been allowed to return to their home.
